Large Studios

The best thing about these large studios is that they are fully equipped serviced apartments. Unlike the majority of apart-hotels, these large studios (31 square metres or 335 square feet) have full sized and fully equipped kitchens. The entrance, kitchen and bathroom have porcelain tiles, and the lounge area and bedroom have carpet.

The Apartments – Two Bedroom Apartments

The 2 bed/1bath apartments are 50 sq m or 538 sq ft and feature a large and spacious kitchen and lounge, the bedrooms have carpets and most of the rest of the apartment has wooden flooring except a small area of porcelain tiles in the kitchen, and the bathroom. There’s a spacious entrance hall and one bathroom. Both bedrooms have a TV with Freeview and adequate wardrobes and storage space. The bedroom windows can’t be opened in the 2nd bedroom of some of the 2 beds. The first bedroom has a king size bed though is smaller, and the 2nd bedroom has a standard double bed but is the larger room. The 2nd bedroom has a desk and desk chair.

The building

Completed in March 2015, the building is half Holiday Inn and half Le Grove Apartments, which are on the 5th, 6th and 7th and 8th floors.

The ground floor is a fantastic air-conditioned space and has a bar, a restaurant, a Starbucks café, business meeting areas, games area (table football, board games and table top arcade game) and a business centre including free-to-use PC and printer. There are 4 large HD screens showing the main events on Sky Sports (usually muted), and even a small shop selling essentials.

It’s both a great communal area where you can hold a meeting, try the draught beers, Starbucks coffee or selection of teas, and eat at very reasonable prices, and also perfect for finding a quiet corner where you can use the free WiFi or 4G, charge your devices and put your feet up.

The Location and Area

The apartments are just .3 miles (483 metres) from Watford town centre, straight along Clarendon Road, which is tree-lined and not too busy or noisy. Watford town centre has lots of parking, and also pleasant pedestrianised zones and modern shopping arcades. The town centre is compact, easy to access and has everything you’d expect from a modern commercial centre, such as theatres, a comedy club and a cinema complex, as well as loads of shops, restaurants and pubs.

Transport

It’s just a two minute walk from the apartments to Watford Junction train station. From here, it’s a 16 minute train journey (the fastest) to London Euston. Also there’s a service on London Overground to Richmond upon Thames, Euston, Clapham Junction and Stratford via Willesden Junction.

In addition there’s Watford tube station on the Metropolitan Line, which is 1.2 miles (2 Kms) from the apartments. From here you can travel direct to Wembley, Baker Street, King’s Cross St Pancras, and Liverpool Street (58 minutes).

Watford Junction also connects with St Albans Abbey in 16 minutes direct, and also connects directly and quickly with Kings Langley, Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring, Leighton Buzzard, Bletchley and Milton Keynes.

Both the M25 and M1 are just a 10 minute drive away with normal traffic levels.

Food

The best thing about this apart-hotel is that you have the choice to self-cater or be catered for!

When you feel like being catered for, breakfast is served from 06.30 til 10.30 Monday to Friday and 07.00 til 11.00 at weekends. The cost of breakfast, which consists of a hotel style hot and cold buffet is £12 or £10 with a voucher from reception. The restaurant serves food from 11.00 til 23.00 every day and the bar serves drinks til 23.00 every evening. The in-house Starbucks and snack bar “Grab n Go” are open 24 hours a day.

Laundry

The 5th floor laundry room is free to use and has 3 separate washing machines and dryers. It’s your responsibility to collect your laundry once the machine has finished. You’ll find a laundry bag under the sink in your apartment. If you leave it too long, others will remove your laundry from the machines! Alternatively use the hotel laundry service and same day dry cleaning service. Ask at reception for pricing.

There’s plenty of clothes storage space in the apartments, including a full length hanger rail, and there’s also a full length mirror

An iron and ironing board are provided in every apartment

Arrival Instructions

On foot: Approaching from either end of Clarendon Road, look for the flags of the Holiday Inn Watford Junction hotel. Go through the main entrance, past reception and you’ll find a café, lounge, restaurant and terrace. This is where you’ll be met by your London Exec Apartments representative.

By car: If you’ve arranged to park in the apartment building, enter via Shady Lane from Clarendon Road.

You can pay at the machine in the car park or for longer stays order a permit in advance or pay at reception. A space isn’t allocated or guaranteed, but there’s a 99% chance that there’ll be a space available when you arrive. If not, there’s chargeable parking nearby until a space becomes available. There tends to be more availability in the evenings.

Please note that a registration plate recognition system is in operation in the car park so any vehicle entering the car park will need to either pay (in advance or on the day), or ask reception to waive it by giving the vehicle registration number, and explaining that it was a drop-off only visit.

By taxi: Ask your driver to take you the Holiday Inn Watford Junction

It’s imperative that you speak or exchange messages with your London Exec Apartment representative on receipt of your confirmation, and then again two hours before arrival. This is to ensure your arrival is as smooth as possible. If calling is a challenge because you’re underground, English isn’t your strong point, or you’re wary of international phone charges, we’ll happily communicate via Whatsapp, text or email. The building isn’t easy to find, and if you’re parking, you’ll need to find out how to pick up your car-park fob, or speak to the concierge to buzz you in on arrival.
